TDAC or the THIM app: what you need for Thailand

Short answerYou need the TDAC, not the THIM app. Thailand's Tourism Authority says THIM is optional, is not an extra arrival-card requirement and does not replace the TDAC, so you can keep using the official TDAC site, tdac.immigration.go.th.

What THIM is

THIM (Thailand Immigration Management) is an app from Thailand's Immigration Bureau, opened for pilot use in June 2026. The Tourism Authority of Thailand describes it as a mobile platform being developed to streamline traveller registration, which may later offer other services for foreign nationals.

During the pilot, travellers may use THIM to access TDAC-linked registration.

TDAC or THIM: which to use

  • The TDAC is the arrival card itself. Foreign visitors submit it for every entry, within 3 days before arrival.
  • THIM is optional. TAT says it "is not an additional arrival-card requirement and does not replace TDAC at this stage".
  • You can keep completing the TDAC through the current official channel, the website tdac.immigration.go.th.
  • The official notice does not say whether THIM has any cost. The TDAC itself is free.

Cost

The TDAC is free. Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports says TDAC registration "is completely free of charge".

Submit only on the official site, tdac.immigration.go.th. A website that charges a fee to handle your TDAC is not an official Thai government site.

Common questions

Do I need the THIM app to enter Thailand?
No. TAT says THIM is an optional app and not an additional arrival-card requirement. You still need a TDAC, which you can submit on tdac.immigration.go.th.
Does THIM replace the TDAC?
Not at this stage. TAT's notice of 11 June 2026 says THIM does not replace the TDAC, and travellers can keep completing it through the current official channel.
Is the TDAC free?
Yes. Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports says TDAC registration is completely free of charge. Use only tdac.immigration.go.th. Sites that ask for payment are not official.
