How to fill in the Dominican Republic e-Ticket
The e-Ticket is the Dominican Republic's electronic entry and exit form. It replaced three paper forms: the embarkation/disembarkation card, the customs declaration and the traveller's health affidavit. Passengers entering or leaving the country on commercial flights need one, Dominican or foreign, and it is free on the official site, eticket.migracion.gob.do.
Checked against official government sources on 27 October 2026.
Open the official formeticket.migracion.gob.doWhat you need before you start
- A passport for each traveller. Type each passport number with care: if it is wrong, the form will not show up at immigration.
- For each traveller: full name, date of birth, gender, place of birth, nationality, marital status and occupation.
- An email address.
- Your flight number, airline, departure and arrival airports, and any stopovers.
- The exact address where you will stay. For a hotel you can choose its name. For private lodging you need the province, municipality, sector, street and number.
- Staying in a vacation rental? Ask your host for the full address, including province, municipality and sector.
- Your home address, city and postal code. If your city is not listed, choose the nearest large city in your state or province.
- Customs details, if they apply: cash over US$10,000 or the equivalent, and any live animals, plants, food or taxable goods, with a description and their value in US dollars.
- DGM lists a processing time of 5 minutes. The form is online only and available 24 hours a day.
Step by step
These steps follow the Ministry of Tourism's official e-Ticket manual from 2022. The live site may look slightly different.
- 1Open eticket.migracion.gob.do, choose your language and accept the terms to start a new e-Ticket application.
- 2Say whether you are travelling with family members. One form covers you plus up to 6 family members.
- 3Enter the general information: your permanent address, country of residence, city, state and postal code, how you are travelling, whether this is your entry or your departure, and any stopovers.
- 4Save your application code. You need it to look up your e-Ticket later.
- 5Enter the migration information for each person: name, date of birth, gender, place of birth, nationality, passport number (entered twice to confirm), marital status, occupation, where you will stay, your flight, the reason for your visit and how many days you will stay.
- 6Complete the customs information. Only adults fill in this part. Declare cash over US$10,000 or the equivalent, and any live animals, plants, food or taxable goods.
- 7Say whether someone helped you fill in the form, accept the terms and submit. Save the QR code as a PDF or a screenshot. It is also sent to you by email. Printing is optional.
- 8Complete the e-Ticket for your departure too. The Ministry of Tourism says the form must be filled in once for entry and once for departure. The departure form has no customs section.
- 9At the airport, have the QR code ready on paper or on your phone. Airlines ask for it before boarding, Customs asks for it on arrival, and Migration checks your passport number against the form.
When to submit
You need an e-Ticket for each entry and each exit. Each trip is a new request, so you cannot reuse an e-Ticket from an earlier trip. The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) says a frequent flyer option lets you reuse a previous application code to fill in the form faster.
How early you can submit: official sources differ. UK FCDO says up to 7 days before you arrive, and the Ministry of Tourism's traveller site (viajerodigital.mitur.gob.do) says from one week before arrival. The Ministry of Tourism's 2022 e-Ticket manual says up to 72 hours before arrival. The Ministry of Tourism's site godominicanrepublic.com says the 72-hour rule no longer applies and you can complete it once you have your flight details, even months ahead. Check the official site before you travel.
All official sources agree on the deadline: the e-Ticket must be completed before you reach the airline check-in counter at the airport.
Changing your e-Ticket: official sources differ here too. The Ministry of Tourism says you can look up and change an issued e-Ticket on the official site with your application code. Its 2022 manual says that if you make a mistake you must fill in the form again, and the last form submitted is the one that counts. DGM says an incomplete e-Ticket can be saved and finished later.
Cost
The e-Ticket is free. DGM says "the e-ticket service offered by the institution is free", and any site that charges for it is not official.
Some separate charges have nothing to do with the e-Ticket and are not paid on the e-Ticket site:
- Tourist card: US$10, included in your airline charges, according to the US State Department. Cruise passengers staying on land for more than 24 hours also need one.
- Departure tax: US$20, included in your airline ticket, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
- Stays of more than 30 days: an extra fee on a sliding scale is charged when you leave. You can pay it online beforehand or at airport immigration.
Families and children
- One person can fill in the e-Ticket for the whole family: you plus up to 6 family members, so up to 7 people on one form.
- At the start, enter the number of additional family members. A family of 4 adds 3.
- Everyone on one form must be a family member travelling together. More than 7 travellers need another form.
- The family gets one QR code.
- Children are included in the migration section. Only adults complete the customs section.
- Separate from the e-Ticket: Dominican minors, and foreign minors who live legally in the Dominican Republic or stay more than six months, may need a paid Certification of Departure for Minors when travelling without one or both parents, according to the US State Department.
Who doesn't need it
- Passengers on private flights, non-commercial vessels, ferries or cruise ships, according to the Ministry of Tourism. They fill in the paper Customs Declaration and Embarkation/Disembarkation forms instead.
- Dominican citizens are not exempt. DGM says all passengers, Dominican or foreign, entering or leaving the country need the e-Ticket.
- DGM's own e-Ticket page lists no exemptions. If you are not sure, check the official site before you travel.
Fake websites: how to spot them
The only official e-Ticket site is eticket.migracion.gob.do, run by the General Directorate of Migration (DGM). In June 2025, DGM said it is acting with the National Cybersecurity Center and other authorities against websites that pretend to be from the Dominican Republic and charge for e-Ticket services. It asks travellers to "verify the platforms and avoid accessing unofficial pages that request data and payments."
- Check that the address is exactly eticket.migracion.gob.do.
- DGM says official Dominican government sites end in .gob.do, .gov.do or .mil.do and use HTTPS. Share personal information only on those sites.
- The e-Ticket is free. If a site asks for payment, it is not the official site.
Common mistakes
- Mistyping a passport number. The form will not show up at immigration and you must fill it in again.
- Stopping before you receive the QR code, or not saving it.
- Losing your application code. You need it to look up your e-Ticket.
- Reusing an e-Ticket from an earlier trip. Each trip needs a new one.
- Filling in an e-Ticket only for your arrival. You need one for both entry and exit.
- Leaving it until the check-in counter. It must be done before you get there.
- Using a paid look-alike site instead of eticket.migracion.gob.do.
Common questions
- Is the Dominican Republic e-Ticket free?
- Yes. DGM says the e-Ticket service is free and that any site charging for it is not official. The tourist card (US$10) and departure tax (US$20) are separate charges that are included in your airline ticket, not part of the e-Ticket.
- How early can I fill in the e-Ticket?
- Official sources differ: UK FCDO says up to 7 days before arrival, a 2022 Ministry of Tourism manual says 72 hours, and the Ministry of Tourism's godominicanrepublic.com says even months ahead. All agree it must be done before you reach the airline check-in counter.
- Do I need an e-Ticket to leave the Dominican Republic?
- Yes. You need one for each entry and each exit. The 2022 Ministry of Tourism manual says no QR code is needed on exit, but UK FCDO says the QR code may be asked for when you leave, so keep it with you.
- Can one e-Ticket cover my whole family?
- Yes. One person can fill it in for themselves plus up to 6 family members travelling together, so up to 7 people. The family gets one QR code. Larger groups need another form.
- Do cruise passengers need an e-Ticket?
- No. The Ministry of Tourism says passengers on cruise ships, ferries, private flights and non-commercial vessels use the paper Customs Declaration and Embarkation/Disembarkation forms instead. Cruise passengers staying on land for more than 24 hours need a tourist card.
- Who can I contact for help with the e-Ticket?
- DGM lists its Migration Control Directorate in Santo Domingo: phone (809) 508-2555, option 2022.
