Thailand visa for Argentines: do you need one?

No. According to the Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentines can visit Thailand without a visa for up to 90 days under a bilateral agreement. One Thai government summary appears to give 30 days instead, so confirm with the embassy before you travel, and fill in the free TDAC before you fly.

Visa rules for a tourist visit

Argentina has a bilateral visa exemption agreement with Thailand. It is not on the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs list of countries with the 30-day tourist visa exemption, in force since 15 September 2026. The Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires (updated 7 September 2026) says Argentine holders of ordinary passports are exempt from visa requirements for tourism or business, as long as they do not do any paid work.

There is no Argentine government travel advice for Thailand. The Embassy of Argentina in Thailand says it does not provide tourist information for visiting Thailand.

How long you can stay

The Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires says you can stay up to 90 days from the date of entry. A Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs summary table of the 2026 changes appears to list Argentina under "Bilateral Agreements 30 days", which conflicts with the 90 days given by the embassy. The table's layout is hard to read, so confirm the length of stay with the embassy before you travel.

What to have ready

  • Documents: for visa applicants, the Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires lists a passport valid for at least 6 months on arrival, funds of at least 20,000 baht per person and proof of departure such as a plane ticket. It does not say whether these also apply to visa-free entry, so it is sensible to have them with you.
  • Fees: the official sources list no fee for visa-free entry, and the TDAC arrival card is free.

The arrival form

You must submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 3 days before you arrive. It is free on the official Thai Immigration website, and our separate TDAC page shows you how to fill it in.

Recent and upcoming changes

  • 15 September 2026: Thailand replaced its 60-day visa exemption with a 30-day exemption for many countries. Argentina is not on that list. The Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires, in its page updated on 7 September 2026, gives 90 days under the bilateral agreement.
  • Proposed, not confirmed: a 450 baht entry fee for foreign tourists from early 2027, according to a Thai Government Public Relations Department headline of 17 August 2026. It has not been confirmed as approved and has no confirmed start date.
